What is a Porsche LWBS seat?

LWBS stands for Lightweight Bucket Seat — a fixed-back, one-piece shell (glass-fibre or carbon) with no recline and minimal adjustment, fitted to GT and Clubsport models. Its centers are trimmed as separate insert panels, which is why inserts are the usual way to change the look.

What is the difference between a folding bucket and a full bucket?

A folding bucket keeps the bucket shape and shell but adds a hinged backrest so rear passengers can get in and the seat can recline slightly. A full bucket is fixed-back and lighter, but harder to live with daily.

Which Porsche seats can take custom inserts?

Nearly all of them: standard and sport seats, Sport Seats Plus, adaptive sport seats, folding buckets, and full carbon buckets on 911 (964 through 992), Cayman and Boxster (987, 981, 982/718), and classic 356 and early 911 seats.

Do I need to send my seats in?

Not necessarily. For most seat types Vione Studios can supply finished insert panels for a local trimmer. Sending the seats gives the tightest fit and lets us address foam at the same time.

Identify your seat

Lightweight Bucket Seat (LWBS)

991 / 992 GT3, GT3 RS, 718 GT4 RS, Clubsport

One-piece fixed-back shell in glass-fibre or carbon. No recline, height adjust by rail spacers. Centers are separate trimmed panels, so an insert swap changes the whole look without touching the shell.

What we fit: Insert set: cushion + backrest centers. Headrest cut-out embroidery optional.

Folding Bucket

997 / 991 / 992 GT3 & GT4, some Carrera T

Bucket shell with a hinged backrest for rear access and slight recline. Slightly heavier than a full bucket, far easier as a daily driver.

What we fit: Insert set plus optional matching rear panel and side bolster piping.

Sport Seats / Sport Seats Plus

991, 992, 981, 982/718, 997

Power or manual adjustable seat with deeper bolsters than the base seat. The most common seat on road cars and the easiest to re-trim.

What we fit: Insert set; can extend to bolsters, rear seat backs, and door card inserts.

Adaptive Sport Seats (18-way)

991, 992, 718

Multi-way seat with pneumatic bolsters and memory. Trim is more involved because of the bolster bladders, but insert centers are unaffected.

What we fit: Insert set; bolster work quoted separately.

Classic Sport & Recaro Seats

356, early 911, 964, 993

Steel-frame seats with pleated or flat centers, often with original Pepita or Pasha cloth. Frequently need foam rebuild alongside new inserts.

What we fit: Period-correct Pepita, houndstooth, tartan, or Pasha inserts; foam and diaphragm work available.
