A short history of Pepita
Pepita — the fine black-and-white houndstooth check — appeared on Porsche seat centers in the late 1950s and became a defining detail of the 356 and early 911 interior. Porsche has revived it repeatedly, most recently on Heritage Design and GT models, which is why it reads as unmistakably Porsche rather than simply retro.
Traditional houndstooth is a larger-scale version of the same broken check. Both are woven, not printed, so the pattern runs through the cloth and wears evenly over years of use.
